| A major contribution (around 40%) of household power consumption is from cooling and heating. | The Rudd government has implemented a roof insulation rebate, which has commented on the 3rd of February 2009. This means that anyone who has insulation professionally installed in their homes after this date will be eligible for a $1600 rebate. The $1600 insulation rebate will be sufficient to cover 100% of the cost to insulate most households. |
| A properly insulated home especially with the roof well maintained will ensure the house remains at a comfortable temperature. During winter, insulation will help keep the hotness from heating system inside and the coldness of the atmosphere outside. On the other hand, in summer the opposite occurs to help maintain a cooler home.
